It has been a full and exciting week so far in the KGR kitchen! We are in the finalist round in Martha Stewart’s American Made contest. Judges choose nine winners while one is left up for Audience Choice–this is where your votes rawk!
If we have inspired your family in some way–from a recipe from our book or offering advice on how to pack lunches–we will be so grateful if you vote for us.
The grand prize is $10,000 and that is money we will use to expand our kitchen and product offerings as well as add more workshops and community outreach classes.
Voting is open until Oct 13th, and you are allowed six votes a day. (Frequent voters are even entered into a weekly drawing to win Martha Stewart-approve prizes!)

THANK YOU for your RAWsome support!!
We had a wonderful time taping a healthy living segment for WMTW8 last week. Here is the clip where the KGR Team shows you how to get more fruits and veggies into you kids lunch without being predictable!

Here is the recipe for the Chocolate Avocado Pudding we make in the TV segment. It’s a sassy snack that kids will gobble up for dessert (or breakfast!)
Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Meat from 2 ripe avocados
1/2 cup water or almond milk
1/2-3/4 cup pitted dates, soaked in water for 30 minutes OR 1/3-1/2 cup liquid sweetener (maple syrup, coconut nectar)
1/3 cup cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 pinches sea salt
Blend all ingredients in a food processor until whipped and creamy. Top with sliced strawberries, cacao nibs or a sprig of mint for an extra flair.
Will keep in a a sealed glass contained in fridge for three days.
KGR is on the GROW–and we can’t go it alone, so we are hiring the most talented kitchen stars we can find. We are excited for you to meet Cady and Paige, our newest rawk stars! YEAH!
Cady Frazier joins our kitchen with an amazing acumen of culinary knowledge. She is a graduate of the Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas, where she studied all facets of plant-based cuisine including several courses in raw food. She is also a baker at Hilltop Coffee Shop in Portland, where her goal is to add more vegan options into the sweets case. Cady is very excited to join KGR and to continue exploring her passion of locally made, wholesome food.
Paige Peterson worked at Modern Vegan before joining the KGR team, but that was hardly her first experience in the kitchen. She became Vegan at 15 and took over cooking for her whole family working her way through every recipe in Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s Veganomicon. Her comfort in the kitchen is a rawsome addition to our group. Paige will be taking October off to intern at the Farm Sanctuary in New York. When she isn’t in the kitchen, she is volunteering at the Animal Refuge League where she loves playing with the kittens.
A BIG, rawsome welcome to Cady & Paige!

We had the pleasure of answering some questions about why we went vegan. Our Rawk Star employee, Lauren Lear, of Lola Studios, is a blogger for the Bangor Daily News–“Happy New Lear” is the name of her fabulous blog–and she was invited to guest post on “Oh, Honestly!” and she chose to share our story. Check out what we had to say about what inspired us to make the switch to vegan living and how it led to Kids Gone Raw HERE. Happy Earth DAY!
What a fun morning we had in the kitchen last week with WMTW’s Tracy Sabol. We chatted all about the rawsome bennies of the raw food lifestyle as well as made two smoothies: Basil Mango Boost and Strawberry Shortcake. Both are from our book, Smoothies Gone Raw: over 100 gorgeous recipes to rawk your world! You can order your own autographed copy HERE.
We are so grateful to share our love for raw food and green smoothies with communities far and wide. To enjoy the segment, courtesy of WMTW Channel 8, Portland, ME, click HERE
